Cingular samsung blackjack i607 activesync 4.2 download

Buffering is very fast a second or two before the segment begins and video quality is sharp-- much better than MobiTV. However, you can't stretch Cingular Video to full screen mode. Yes, the phone supports stereo Bluetooth headsets but we're still baffled that Cingular chose not to include a wired stereo headset, which is included with the Cingular and Cingular And no, the new HTC stereo earbud headset used with the afore mentioned phones won't fit.

You'll need to get the headset designed for recent slim Samsung phones such as the Trace and t The BlackJack comes with two standard capacity Lithium Ion batteries no room to fit an extended battery unless they made a bulging rear cover. The capacity isn't marked on the battery nor is it mentioned in the documentation.

Given the size and runtimes, we'd guess it's around mAh, which is as low as you want to go with a 3G phone. A charging module for the second battery is in the box, so you need not charge the second battery while it's in the phone. Cingular claims 5. The talk time is a bit optimistic in 3G coverage areas and we got about 4 to 4.

With moderate to heavy use, including Direct Push email for Exchange during business hours, expect to charge the phone nightly or every other day at best. If you're a Cingular Video junkie, carry that spare with you. The battery indicator isn't always accurate, sometimes taking some time to reflect drain and showing occasional transient voltage drops from high demand activities that lead to false low readings that bounce back.

We really like Samsung and Cingular's collection of value-added software. This is great value added since some of us depend on our Outlook notes and MS Smartphone Edition lacks notes. Samsung also includes SmartConverter a unit converter , Stopwatch, D-Day nothing to do with Normandy, this is an app that counts the days to or since a date your specify, such as countdown to your next vacation and a World Clock which displays up to 3 different date and times for major cities around the world.

But wait-- there's more, as they say on the late night infomercials: you get Syncdata's SmartSearch which can search contacts, calendar, tasks, SMS, email and the call log for a search term or just search for a file by its name. That bunch will save you some money on 3rd party software. Samsung also includes several Home Screens with handy functionality like a pop-up for recent apps, missed calls, new messages, appointments and more. Other Samsung Home Screens included have a scrollable bar at the bottom where you can move through those items.

Samsung includes their "My Stuff" application which is a front end for the standard MS Pictures and Videos application with some added functionality it can browse notes and open them by calling up the Samsung notepad application. A Java VM is also included as is a link to get Good's push email application requires Good's service.

As with many recent smartphones, the Java VM will drive you batty if you install and run unsigned applications like Google Maps the app will ask permission about 6 times when you launch and run the Google Maps applet, one for each connection it makes to the Net.

As a substitute, try the wonderful, free Map for PDA application which is a standalone. NET 2. Cingular adds their Cingular Video icon which launches IE and takes you to cingularvideo. The standard Windows Mobile Smartphone apps are included: Mobile versions of Internet Explorer; Outlook as Messaging for email plus contacts, calendar and tasks but not notes thanks again for Samsung's notes app filling in this blank , File Explorer, Windows Media Player, Task Manager, Call History, speed dial and Pictures and Videos you won't see an icon for it but if you use "My Stuff" to open images and videos, My Stuff will launch Pictures and Videos.

The Samsung has Bluetooth 2. Samsung's web site currently says it's 2. Though not quite as fast discovering other Bluetooth devices in range as HTC phones, the BlackJack nonetheless found all devices in range and provided fast and reliable connections. We tested it with the Plantronics Discovery and Samsung WEP Bluetooth headset and it had very good range those two tiny headsets don't have the best range with most phones and call quality.

The phone can handle up to 6 simultaneous Bluetooth connections. While most of us don't own 6 different kinds of Bluetooth devices that we'd really like to use at once with the BlackJack, it is nice to know you could use a Bluetooth GPS and headset at the same time with the phone.

The BlackJack has a 1. It takes better photos than the Dash and some other Windows Mobile smartphones on the market and is on par with Samsung feature phone cameras for some reason smartphone cameras often aren't as good as feature phone cameras.

There are several shutter sounds but you can't disable the shutter sound; sorry stealth photographers. The BlackJack's photos are colorful, bright and fairly color accurate none of that purple color cast found in the Dash. It does reasonably well for a flash-less camera in low light Sammy the cat was taken in low light and doesn't white out hugely in bright sunlight though it does blow out some highlights, but that's normal for a 1.

The camcorder can take video with audio at x resolution and x and has 3 quality settings, and adjustable white balance. You can limit video length handy for MMS or record until you run out of storage memory the phone can save photos and video to a card. The camera records video in 3GP format and you can record without audio if you wish. The camcorder takes surprisingly good videos that are sharp and keep up with moving subjects well.

The Samsung BlackJack i simply looks and feels fantastic. The high speed data in 3G coverage areas is wicked fast and voice quality is excellent. The keyboard is excellent, though the number keys are a bit eccentric. We love the jog wheel and most everything about this phone. The camera takes better than average photos, Bluetooth stereo sounds great and Cingular Video is addictive.

While several phones have been billed as potential Q-killers this year, the Samsung BlackJack is the only one that actually is a Q killer.

It's on even ground for high speed data Verizon has a larger coverage blanket at the moment but Cingular has better speeds and like the Moto Q, the BlackJack looks like a slick, business device. The BlackJack boasts better ergonomics, better speed, better looks, better Bluetooth, a better camera and similarly anemic battery life but the Samsung wins because it comes with a 2nd battery and charger module for that battery.

Maybe the Q will look better in black-- we hear the Verizon Q will soon be black to compete with the Dash and BlackJack no doubt. They're both excellent phones, and it's not an easy choice. But Cingular's much broader coverage and 3G network influenced our rating, as did the BlackJack's better ergonomics other than d-pad and surrounding buttons.

The BJ is narrow enough to use one-handed even if you have small hands, the jog wheel with action button and back button are awesome as are the totally normal volume controls. The Dash's JOGGR strip in comparison makes us want to scream, yet without it there's no easy way to control volume in call. The phone also supports MP3 ring tones, and you can always download more through the Web. If you want to use a wireless headset, that's also possible; the BlackJack has integrated Bluetooth 2.

There is no integrated Wi-Fi, which is disappointing as this would have been a nice addition for customers outside of Cingular's 3G network. Conversations sounded loud and clear, and though the other end noticed a slight echo, audio quality was generally great. Activating the speakerphone didn't diminish the sound quality at all, and we had no problems pairing the device to the Logitech Mobile Traveller Bluetooth headset. As noted earlier, we tested a preproduction unit of the Samsung BlackJack, which we're hoping is the reason for some of the sluggish performance we experienced stay tuned; we'll update results with the final product.

There was a noticeable lag when we tried to launch the camera or open various documents. On the bright side, the Web browsing and multimedia experience on the BlackJack was awesome. Web sites loaded quickly as did streaming media. Music playback through the phone's speakers was good, although audio sounded blown out when we turned the volume to its highest setting.

Video looked spectacular on the BlackJack's gorgeous screen, even though there was the expected pixilation. The Samsung BlackJack is rated for 5. In our tests, the phone just met the rated talk time. Bonnie Cha. Highlights include Bluetooth 2. Navigation controls are cramped, and there is no integrated Wi-Fi.

Certain applications take some time to load. While it supports the carrier's video and music service, some design and performance issues trip up this otherwise sexy device.

In short, 3G support means the BlackJack offers a better experience for browsing the Web, listening to streaming media, or downloading games.

This technology, however, is not available everywhere, especially in more rural areas. You can check for your city here. Downloads were speedy with barely any delay for video buffering. The recently launched Cingular Music is a full-featured service that not only allows you to purchase songs from independent music services, such as Napster to Go and Yahoo Music, but also includes streaming XM satellite radio, music videos, MusicID for identifying song titles and artists, and a music news site called TheBuzz.

Unfortunately, not all features of the service were enabled on our review unit and on-the-go music downloading is still impossible , but we were able to listen to XM satellite radio and enjoyed smooth streaming audio. One of the main differences between the BlackJack and the Cingular is the phone operating system. We were able to transfer and open such files successfully with the BlackJack. Other tools include: a calendar; contacts lists; task lists; other notes; a voice recorder; a calculator; a stopwatch; a world clock; and a unit converter.

In addition, push technology for real-time e-mail delivery is available through several services, including Microsoft Direct Push, Good Mobile Messaging, and Cingular XpressMail. In case you want to actually talk to someone, the BlackJack is also a quad-band world phone that can be used in more than countries. It also includes a speakerphone, three-way calling, and conference calling.

The address book is limited only by available memory the SIM card holds an additional contacts , and each entry can accommodate up to 12 numbers, several e-mail addresses, IM handles, job titles, and additional details.

For caller ID, you can assign a contact a group ID, one of 20 ring tones, or a picture.

Finally, this smart phone comes equipped with a 1. You have the option of shooting in various modes and multiple resolutions, ranging from 1,x to x, for still images. There is no flash, but there are white balance settings. You can also enhance your photos with various effects and frames. Editing options are a little more limited in video mode, but you do get a choice of two shooting modes limited for MMS or normal , two sizes x and x , and three quality settings fine, normal, and economy.

If you're the silent-move type, there's also a selection to turn off audio. Overall, the BlackJack took decent photos with good color and definition, and video quality was above par, as we didn't witness as much pixilation as we have with other camera phones.

On the bright side, the Web browsing and multimedia experience on the BlackJack was awesome. Web sites loaded quickly as did streaming media.
