Armada 2 manual
Well I tried. I think. See the game doesn't tell you how. My ship was rubbing armor with the enemy ship, not firing. The game didn't give me a hint of what to do. I'm sure it's simple It's abnormal for me to be this annoyed this quickly with a strategy game. Can't decide if I'll refund it. It's a fine game, I'm sure, but it needs a manual. The usual suspect is the step where it tells you to select the enemy vessel, assign it a priority and target a specific subsystem I tried that; my ship basically just slowly plowed forward until it and the enemy were touching noses. Neither ever fired a shot. The game never offered any hints.

Tau Protector Ships. Tau Protector Strategies and Videos. Tau Protector Counters. Credit and References. April 29th, Hello everyone, I know I haven't updated the guide in a while and my content lately has been nonexistent, but I feel like you all deserve an explanation.
So firstly, the guide will undergo updates as I have time it should be obvious by now, but I have far less of that now than when I started writing not only due to the patches to the game but also picking up where I left off. I still love Warhammer 40K and this game and will continue to push forward with it when I can. The reason for me not writing as frequently anymore is due to many reasons. Me and my fiance' are looking at wedding venues and potential honeymoon spots and school has picked up as well with me doubling my classes for my business degree.
Want to listen to appropriate music while reading through this guide? I present to you music that is epic enough to be heard while dealing with anything Warhammer. These are some of my favorite pieces that have been composed for something as grand and to the scale of what Warhammer really is, endless war.
It is my hope and intention that from this you will not only learn how to play Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 to its greatest potential, but also learn and facilitate strategic thought when playing. I've loved Warhammer all my life and I played the first Battlefleet Armada a lot. I enjoyed the mechanics and how we finally had a game in which we can take our spaceships and smash them into each other.
It is good to see a new launch of the game and continued support not only from the developers, but also from a excellent fanbase. A little about me before we continue on. In the pre-release beta I was placing around the top 10 for Imperial Navy on the leaderboards, hopefully after launch I'll be moving up even further. I'm still unsure what faction fits my playstyle best because this game is quite different from the last Gothic Armada where I did main the Imperial Navy.
I enjoy seeing everything the game has to offer from all factions and love seeing how players play and react to all kinds of unique situations. It is my hope that whatever faction I decide to main, or whichever one I enjoy playing most, I'll be able to give my own personal insights and tips to all of you. I simply wish to bring my knowledge and experiences to all of you. This guide will provide an overview of subfactions, skills and upgrades in the game. Next we will begin to focus on specific factions and I'll add in strategies that are common from these factions and what you can bring to combat them.
Within each of these factions we will also be examining some standout ships that are available. As this is essentially a tabletop game getting the most out of your points is extremely important. As a sidenote, I'm well aware of the name that I have. I choose it long ago when I first got Steam in honor of my favorite character from any fantasy universe: The Emperor of Mankind.
The very fact that I write this guide is a testament to how much I love Warhammer games and to do a service to a community. So troll down in the comments if you like you heretics, I will still enjoy reading what you wrote because I love every player who is apart of this community.
Emperor's Children battlegroup of the 13th Black Crusade featuring inconography and insignia of the Chaos God Slaanesh. The universe is ours for the taking! I encourage all of you to simply make your own fleet of your favorite factions and filter through the subfactions category while in the ship-viewer. This will allow close inspection of details and pick out which one fits the theme of your fleet.
Please note: There is no statistical advantage when it comes to choosing a subfaction, so simply choose what you think looks best and what will intimidate your enemies. The four Chaos subfactions dedicated to the worship of the Chaos gods each recieve an additional skill and upgrade to choose from.
Each of the Orc subfactions also recieve an additional upgrade. Because this applies to all Orc factions, I will not list them but I will list the specific Chaos ones below. A navigator of the Navis Nobilite charting a course for the Imperial warship he is stationed on.
To understand insanity itself is to become insane. Worst of all is the knowledge that while you are gazing upon it, the Warp is looking back at you and laughing. These abilities range drasticly between factions and can support a multitude of playstyles. The overall concept when picking these skills is to choose things that either augment your fleet in some capacity or make up for some inherent weakness.
These abilities can be offensive in nature focusing on dealing direct damage to a area-of-effect within the battlezone to depleting the shields of all ships friend or foe within a large radius, to pulling micro-warp jumps. There is no skill that is inherently better than any other. All of these skills are subjective and there are far to many variables that go into situations and personal playstyles for me to recommend specfic ones.
There are certain skills which may work for some factions better than others, but again players don't always play to their factions strengths and can bring suprising compositions and strategies. The best skills are the ones that you find to work best for you, the faction, your playstyle and fleet. If you like doing damage, take an offensive skill.
Scared of your flagship being destroyed? Take skills that focus on defense and maneuverability. Need more vision of the battlezone?
Look at getting probes or some sort or a secondary scouting skill related to your faction. Please be aware that skills can only be used by the flagship of your fleet, meaning that in order to capitalize on getting the most of your abilities, you must keep your flagship alive. These skills are not available to you if your flagship is destroyed or incapacitated in any way.
Play wisely. Inquisitor Phadaeus Falconet Horst of the Ordo Malleus left stands with the newly promoted Admiral Spire right observing a battlegroup passing by during the onset of the 12th Black Crusade, what would later be known as the Gothic War. Billions will live and die by our actions here, and we have not the luxury to count the cost. While skills are single use abilities that operate on cooldowns, upgrades are passive abilities that enhance your fleet in unique ways.
This is another layer of customization to further add to your fleet and is supposed to replace the upgrade system from the previous Gothic Armada where every ship could be customized from top to bottom with stat boosts, bonuses and passives. There is one last layer of differentiation between skills and upgrades, while one can easily argue that all skills are useful in their own ways, upgrades Let me explain. First we must understand that upgrades focus on different aspects of your fleet.
They either apply to just the flagship, the fleet as a whole, or some specific category of ships. When comparing these upgrades to one another we must weigh the different values that come from boosting specific areas or singular ships of the fleet versus things that benefit every ship under our command. For new players I recommend that you look at fleet-wide bonuses as these don't force you to play in a particular way generally and are easier to get effective use out of.
When looking at upgrades that focus on the flagship, they had better be GOOD in order to justify boosting one ship up more than an entire fleet, espeically considering the flagship is a prime target for your adversary.
Upgrades which focus on boosting specific categories of ships or something similiar usually lead people to building fleets which only consist of that specific category in order to maximize the bonuses that are to be had. This min-maxing strategy is common in gaming but can be jarring for new players who are simply looking to understand game mechanics first, this is not an easy game to learn. Gothic Armada 2 has a steep learning curve and is punishing for new players in the multiplayer environment, look at what is easy first then specialize.
Please experiment for your faction and see what you like and what works best for you, you are the master of your own strategy and the person whose enjoyment matters most. Gothic Battlegroup patrolling a sector of space.
It is the shield that defends Imperial worlds from alien and heretical incursion while also being the sword that strikes at the enemies of mankind. In game, the Imperial Navy functions as the games "balanced" faction, being that it does everything decently and is a good place for beginners to start. The reason for this is that while no strategy may be "optimal" when comparing the Imperial Navy to its counterparts, it also doesn't fail at anything either.
Want torpedos? Want to use carriers? Wanna get in close to the enemy and blast them to pieces with broadsides? Another benefit the Imperial Navy has is a filled out roster of ships to choose from in multiple tonnages. Featuring several ships across the classifications of cruisers all variants , escorts and heavier vessels a fleet can be designed almost in any way. Weapons available to this faction vary as well as you will see more specialized vessels focusing on macro-batteries, to mixed weapons platforms featuring lances and hangar bays.
A simple strategy for new players is to find what aspect of the Imperial Navy they like and what areas of gameplay they enjoy most, then transfer over to a faction that does that particular thing better. One particular design of the Imperial Navy is that their ships are on the slower side. The Cardassian Union.

Though the Quadrant is still recovering from the devastation brought about by the invasion, an emergency meeting of the Federation Council has directed Starfleet to find out how and where the Borg have been entering the Alpha Quadrant.
Once found, the Federation forces have orders to launch the first ever offensive into the Delta Quadrant in their war with the Borg—a strategic operation to eliminate the Borg threat once and for all.
While the forces of the Klingon Empire are begrudgingly left to play the role of Alpha Quadrant peacekeepers, they learn that it will take all of their strength—and their forces—to preserve the Quadrant. In the Delta Quadrant, the Borg find themselves set upon by not just the intruders from the Alpha Quadrant, but by a merciless assault from the fluidic space dwellers, Species You can also press Exit to leave the game.

Dilithium is a crystalline substance used in warp propulsion systems aboard starships, and is mined from moons. The size and maximum speed of a ship typically reflects the amount of dilithium required for its development—larger starships require increased quantities of this resource.
While stationary structures such as a Shipyard typically have lower energy requirements, their construction still demands a quantity of dilithium. When an order to build a unit is given, the dilithium required for that object is taken from your dilithium account. Cancelling construction of a unit replaces the dilithium for that unit back into your account. Decommissioning a ship or station replaces dilithium back into your account.
To collect dilithium, a mining station needs to be built—preferably near a dilithium moon. Once built, a freighter will mine dilithium from the nearest dilithium moon. More freighters can be built to increase the rate at which a team acquires dilithium. Only one freighter can mine a moon at one time, although one can be mining a moon while another is returning its load to a mining station. Certain moons contain an infinite supply of dilithium. These moons have a noticeably purple tint to them, and their quantity will not alter as they are mined for resources.
Note: Species have no use for dilithium, and this resource will not appear on the screen when playing as Species , but it can be converted to bio-matter which Species uses for embryo evolution. This resource represents the variety of metals and materials needed for the construction of starships and. Metals are used primarily in the construction of stations.
The size of the unit typically reflects the amount of metals needed—larger structures require more metal. Decommissioning a ship or station replaces metal back into your account.
To collect metal, you must build an Orbital Processing Facility near a planet. Once finished, the facility will begin mining metal from the planet. These valuable metal ingots are used as a medium of exchange, primarily outside of the Federation. Liquid at room temperature, latinum is typically suspended in ingots of gold, which come in standard sizes for ease of trade.
Latinum is used primarily for trade and during the development and research of new technologies. Latinum is extracted from Latinum nebulae by mining ships. Harvesting latinum from nebulas is possible by sending a mining ship into a latinum-rich nebula and instructing it to harvest.
Once it has completely filled its storage bays, it will head toward a starbase to drop off its load before returning to the nebula. Full latinum freighters are very vulnerable when carrying these volatile metals and can be spotted by the gaseous trail they leave behind. Note: The Borg have no use for latinum, and this resource will not appear on the screen when playing as this race. A unique breakdown of matter employed solely by Species yields Bio-matter, the only resource that they need as a race.
Using their Collector and Transmuter see Species Organisms on page 70 , Species are able to derive Bio-matter by converting standard resources such as dilithium or metal or taking it directly from other races's ships and stations. Each ship and most stations require a set number of crew members from your crew pool in order to be built. Crew filters into your crew pool at a steady rate by. The rate that crew accumulates is based on the number of starbases built.
You also gain crew by colonizing planets. Once an order to build a unit is given, the crew required for that project are taken from your crew pool. Canceling construction of a unit replaces the crew for that unit back into the crew pool.
Decommissioning a ship or station transfers the remaining crew from that unit back into the crew pool.
The number of officers that you have restricts the total number of ships and stations that you can possess at one time. Each ship or station requires a set number of officers. Like officers for other races, the maximum pilot count restricts the total number of organisms that can be built. Each organism requires a set number of pilots. Species ships require only a single pilot. The Strategic View is the traditional top-down view of the map, with a visible grid. You can zoom in and out using the mouse.
The Tactical View is full 3D. Moving the mouse will rotate your view; you can also zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Opens the Multiplayer Options menu to change alliances, modify chat settings, and give resources or units to other players. The second setting. You can also press the X key to trigger this action.
With a ship selected, right-clicking on another object will either bring up the icon for the default action mining for a freighter on.
Will allow you to toggle the tooltip help messages. The default setting will bring up a tooltip box if you move the cursor over any interface element. If the cursor remains over the same element for. Clicking once on Toggle Help will bring up a fixed box with the extended tooltip that will remain over the Mini Map, active when you mouse over any element.
The third setting of Toggle Help will stop all tooltips from appearing. The view will show events occurring in other parts of the map, prioritized by significance. Clicking on the window will bring you directly to that event.
Double-clicking on this window will also change your view from strategic to tactical and vice versa. Any space objects that are permanent game fixtures will also be displayed, once they are seen.
All ships and stations are represented by their team color. Unexplored regions of the map appear as a colored shroud on the mini map and in both the Tactical and Strategic views in the main display window.
Explored regions that are no longer in the line-of-sight of any of your ships or stations become covered with a fog of war. The mini map can be filtered to the following states for both ships and stations: Show All, Friendly Only, Enemy Only, Show None, and Neutral Only via the buttons on the bottom of the mini map.
To travel long distances quickly, you may use warp speed. Alt-right-click in the main window will also have the selected ship or ships warp to the location of the cursor. Ships will automatically come out of warp speed in the proximity of planets, moons, asteroids, black holes, and nebulae.
The translucent purple radius around an object on the mini map represents the gravitational well. A ship in warp will not be able to fire on targets, and will be more vulnerable to attack, as its shields must be down to warp.
Sensor strength is also reduced, so the amount of the map revealed below the shroud when warping is significantly less than when traveling at impulse speed. A move order made on the main screen will automatically be set at impulse speed. A move order made by clicking on the mini map will automatically be set at warp speed. When one ship is selected on the main screen, its vital statistics appear on the ship display. Next to the schematic of the ship, there is a detailed look at the state of the ship.
Any damage not directly absorbed by the shields can damage these systems. The more crew available to the ship, the faster damaged systems can repair.
