Investigations performed by students are relevant to pediatric and adult illnesses including diabetes, obesity, hematological and cardiovascular diseases and others that disproportionally affect our under-resourced communities. The program culminates in a trip to the National Institutes of Health for a science symposium where all students present their research.

Many students have successfully enrolled in doctoral or professional degree programs. The program and the inclusion of young fresh minds in cutting edge research has greatly impressed me. There is something fulfilling about deciphering things you see in everyday's life.

Current Covid Health and Safety Guidelines. Students must be: US Citizens or permanent residents Represent diverse backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research on a national basis Maintain a B average in all course work Completed their freshman year in good standing prior to the start of the research experience Convey their motivation to learn about and participate in research Additional Materials: Personal Statement Why would you like to participate in the RAMP-UP Program?

Additional Training: Trainees will participate in 10 hours per week of additional training including in-person and web-based learning activities during the summer program. Undergraduates learn about careers in health care and health disparities research by participating in the Summer Enrichment Program SEP , which helps them prepare for and gain admission to health-related graduate and professional schools.
